Escucha Radical

Obra ganadora del 1er Premio Adquisición en el 61º Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales del Ministerio de Educación y Cultura de Uruguay.

Escucha Radical es una acción para 2 performers que surge de la mezcla de diferentes prácticas en torno a la escucha. Un cuerpo que deviene movimiento, que se encuentra en la acción y la palabra y que deja por momentos de ser solo un yo para convertirse en una mezcla de otras corporalidades, seres y cosas.

Una escucha radical es una escucha de los materiales con los que se trabaja, una escucha del espacio en donde se trabaja, una escucha a las condiciones bajo las cuales se trabaja, una escucha del entorno en donde se produce, una escucha a la obra o prácticas mismas que nos hablan una vez iniciada la conversación, una escucha al cuerpo propio para saber qué nos puede brindar ese día, una escucha al tiempo bajo el cual se trabaja, una escucha a la historia, una escucha a les pares que trabajan junto a nosotres, una escucha a les espectadores que prestan su mirada o cuerpo a esas prácticas u obras, una escucha a las ráfagas de movimiento que atraviesan nuestros cuerpos, una escucha al viento que susurra tiempos.

Investigación coreográfica que continúa nuestra línea de investigación sobre la creación basada en la escucha mutua que comienza con Flicker en 2017, continúa con Sé Agua en 2019 y con Leviathan en 2020, que tiene como salida un ensayo escrito a cuatro manos, una práctica performática entendida como obra y un taller.

Radical Listening

1st Prize at the 61st National Visual Arts Award of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay.

Action for 2 performers that arises from the mixture of different practices around listening. A body that becomes movement, that is found in action and word and that at times ceases to be just a self to become a mixture of other corporalities, beings and things.

A radical listening is a listening to the materials with which one works, listening to the space where one works, listening to the conditions under which one works, listening to the environment where it is produced, listening to the work or same practices that speak to us once the conversation has started, listening to one’s own body to know what it can offer us that day, listening to the time under which one works, listening to history, listening to the peers who work alongside us, a listening to the spectators who lend their gaze or body to those practices or works, a listening to the bursts of movement that cross our bodies, a listening to the wind that whispers times.

Choreographic research that continues our line of investigation on mutual listening, which began with Flicker in 2017, continued with Sé Agua in 2019, and Leviathan in 2020. This research has resulted in a four-handed written essay published in the Intervalo Magazine, edited by Rosario Lázaro Igoa; a performative practice understood as a work of art; and a workshop taught as a Continuing Education course at UDELAR, Montevideo (UY) and as a module of the MOOC SIC Sense, Investigate, Communicate at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Universidad Veracruzana, Xalapa region (MX), and the K LAB of the Technische Universität Berlin (DE).
